Survey Said EE Multi-User License Definition
Cost Effective Licensing when Installed on a file server
The Survey Said family of products are network ready "out of the box". Although Survey Said can be installed on a standalone PC, the real Multi-user capability comes alive when installed on a LAN (Local Area Network). Survey Said is extremely cost effective when it is installed on a file server, because licensing is based on concurrent usage. The administration of the licenses "in use" are controlled by the Survey Said software. Simply purchase the number of concurrent user licenses you expect to need. The software can then be made available to as many users as required. These users can share the licenses among themselves and only "use" one of the licenses when they are actually running one of the Survey Said programs.
Survey Said was designed from the very beginning (back in 1990) as a multi-user package. It allows multiple administrators to: create and modify surveys, input respondent's answers to the same survey simultaneously, and even allow multiple administrators to analyze the same survey simultaneously. Survey Said is not your typical single user PC program!
With the optional Internet options (HTML and JAVA), the multi-user environment is taken to the extreme. The Survey Said web collection module is very light weight and can handle tens of thousands of respondents per day! That's right, large Marketing Research firms are using Survey Said to administer "tens of thousands of surveys per day"on a single web server!
Administrator License
The Survey Said 1 package comes with a single administrator license. This license allows one user to access one program of the three programs in the Survey Said suite at a time. Each time a program is run, it requires an Administrator License "token". Additional Administrator Licenses can be purchased. Each installed Survey Said core package can support up to 1000 concurrent users by purchasing the appropriate number of licenses.
Example 1: A two Administrator License would allow any two of the Survey Said programs to be run concurrently. An example of this would be to install the software on a PC network. If two PCs have access to the software, each PC can run only one of the three programs. If one of the PCs runs both the Survey Creator and the Survey Analyzer program at the same time, it has both license "tokens" in use. In this case the other PC would have to wait until the first PC exited one of the programs before it could run one of the Survey Said programs. If all license tokens are in use, and a user tries to run one of the Survey Said programs, an informational message appears that instructs the user to try again later.
Example 2: Five (5) PCs have access to the Survey Said software on a network. One PC is running the Survey Creator, Survey Analyzer and the Survey Respondent programs concurrently. It is using 3 license tokens. If a 10 user administrator license is loaded, the other 4 PCs can share the remaining seven license tokens.
